Abels Farms is located in Amherst Nebraska, right in the heart of the state. We farm corn and soybeans, some wheat and oats. Finding a farm dog that was just right for us took us right to the Great Pyrenees breed. They are undoubtedly a magnificent animal, one that has deep devotion to its family and home but also has an instinct to guard and protect. They are an intelligent breed that is trustworthy and affectionate. Although gentle and calm, the Great Pyrenees will be protective of those they consider their "property" as well as protective of their territory.They also make wonderful pets, devoted to their families and homes, needing regular love and attention. Once reaching maturity, they are placid by nautre. The Great Pyrenees is also known as the "gentle giant" and despite its imposing size, they are especially good with children.
